Belonging, identity and accessible support

LGBTQ+ support

Disabled and neurodivergent LGBTQ+ people deserve to feel welcome, understood and able to be themselves. This page brings together local peer groups, disability-specific organisations, family support and practical advice. It includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual people, and the families and carers who support them.

Official provider information checked 13 October 2026. Some organisations specialise in disability; others offer broader LGBTQ+ support. A listing does not guarantee that every venue or activity meets every access need. Contact the service before attending to discuss communication, sensory, mobility or personal-care requirements, charges and available places.

Disability-specific organisations and resources

Regard

UK-wide · disabled LGBTQI+ people · information and campaigning. A member-led organisation representing people who self-identify as disabled and LGBTQI+. Its resources address inclusion and the experience of disabled LGBTQI+ people using social care. This is not an emergency helpline or a promise of funded personal care.

secretary@regard.org.uk · Official resources · contact form. Ask about current ways to participate, any membership costs and age eligibility.

Deaf Rainbow UK

UK-wide resources · Deaf LGBTIQA+ people. BSL videos, identity information, coming-out stories and community events. Online resources are freely available; event ages, locations and ticket costs vary. This is volunteer-run, so responses may take time.

hello@deafrainbowuk.org.uk · Official resources and current events. Ask about any live support needed and check event-specific accessibility rather than assuming provision.

ParaPride

Disabled LGBTQ+ community and allies · online and location-specific events. An empowerment charity offering events, workshops and inclusion work. Its published access approach includes step-free routes, accessible toilets, BSL and captions; confirm arrangements for the particular event, including age limits and any ticket charge.

Official organisation and contact routes · published accessibility commitments. This is community participation and advocacy, not an individual cash-grant scheme.

Choice Support: Supported Loving

UK-wide freely available guidance · learning disability, autism, relationships and sexuality. A practical toolkit for people receiving support, families and support workers. It includes LGBTQ+ information and guidance about supporting relationships. The Supported Loving network is free to join.

Official LGBTQ+ resource and toolkit links. Local groups referenced in resources need their own age, availability and geographical checks; toolkit access does not enrol someone in a group.

Sahir: Prism neurodivergent peer group

Liverpool City Region only · LGBTQ+ neurodivergent adults 18+ · free sessions. Facilitated peer support, with in-person and online elements. Eligibility includes people living, working or socialising within Liverpool City Region: an online session does not make this a UK-wide service.

Self-registration required, with booking for limited in-person places. 0151 6731972 · info@sahir.org.uk. Official criteria and registration. Ask about access arrangements when registering.

Young people, parents, carers and siblings

Official chat, mentoring eligibility and referral information. Contact the team about current availability, any costs, communication adjustments and whether mentoring is suitable; live chat is not an emergency service.

FFLAG

UK-wide · families with LGBTQ+ loved ones · guidance and peer support. Information, family stories and support for parents and relatives who want to understand and support their loved one. The resources can help carers and siblings too, but the service is not disability specialist.

0300 688 0368, Wednesday–Thursday 10am–8pm and Friday–Saturday 10am–6pm. Official current helpline and resources. A 0300 call may be charged at your provider's standard rate or included in your allowance; confirm group arrangements before attending.

Support should respect the young person's own words, privacy and wishes. Do not assume someone cannot understand their identity because they are autistic, have a learning disability or communicate differently. Ask what helps them take part, and involve a trusted supporter where the person wants this and it is safe.

Safety, discrimination and practical help

For discrimination involving disability, sexual orientation or gender reassignment, the Equality Advisory Support Service offers information and assistance across England, Scotland and Wales: 0808 800 0082, with webchat and email contact. It is a general equality service, not an LGBTQ+ peer group. For housing and benefit routes, use our Housing page and funding directory.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For emergency and accessible contact options, visit Urgent help. This page and the Foundation's referral inbox are not emergency services. If another person monitors your device or account, consider a safer contact method; private browsing alone may not hide activity.
